Hello Dr. Pinter, please tell us what is the focus of your work?
Most of my work is in general pediatrics with a main focus in pediatric cardiology.
Other focal points are pediatric ultrasonic diagnostic and allergology.

Which types of patients are typically cared for?
One group are new patients where we are looking as a team for a diagnosis to determine whether there are issues with their heart or not. We do organize surgery with established colleagues in case needed and monitor progress.
Another group are patients that already had heart surgery and receive long-term care and support in any questions that may arise with their condition.
Some of my young cardiological patients are babys still in the womb.

What are the benefits of the new ordination?
This location is ideal for patients who have complex issues, where specialists may have to be involved. The proximity to the AKH allows us to do consultation visits of colleagues and surgeons so we can work more efficiently and get up to speed with starting the treatment.
This means that patients do not have to search, wait, or travel for an extended period of time, but can often receive examinations and consultation within one day.

Please give us a summary of your CV and previous work.
Well the CV (curriculum vitae) can get quite long for someone of my age, but the most important points of my journey were:
• Immediately after graduation, I was able to start with specialist training, then in Hungary, in a large pediatric center, where I got a excellent education in indispensable medical fundamentals.
• My superior was a well-known doctor in Hungary and passed on a lot of his insight and approach, which I am very thankful for.
• Then I received an invitation to come to Vienna, which I happily accepted. At this point I already started to focus on ultrasound diagnostics, teaching, and went through different stations in Austria.
• For years I was the head of the ultrasound outpatient department and cardiac outpatient clinic in the main hospital of St. Pölten / Lower Austria.
• I came to Linz from St. Pölten, where I led the cardiac outpatient clinic for seven years at the Children’s Heart Center, with many very interesting questions.
• Back in Vienna I founded a pediatric center at the Döbling Private Hospital.
• I opened my current ordination in the Vienna Private Hospital (www.wpk.at) where I put my experience at work every day.

What is the focus on pediatric cardiology?
Pediatric cardiology is a very narrow field that requires a large fundament of expertise. A broad age distribution among the patients can be observed and may start as early as diagnosing heart problems or heart malformations of the baby still in the womb. To be able to evaluate risks this early can be extremely important for how birth and postpartum time can be planned.
Severe problems need planning of surgery and treatment right away. In case a surgery was done, the young patient requires years of care, of which most can be done right in my office.
The type of challenges and questions change in adolescence and adulthood and might involve choosing a career, starting a family, and at this point we are still continuously providing advice and assistance to all our patients.

What is the focus on ultrasound diagnostics?
Ultrasound diagnostics is my passion, as the efficiency of this type of examination always fascinated me when I grew up as this technology was established. I was able to participate in it’s usage from day zero to today, and I continue to find it very intriguing.
The children are optimal patients for ultrasound diagnostics because they are very well transient for ultrasound. This means diagnosis with young patients is very reliable and among the less stressful for the young patients. With this diagnostic option, we can answer many questions right away and often see and treat serious, life-threatening complications in a timely manner.

Please tell us about your work in allergology?
Allergology is a specialty, which is developing rapidly. The reason for this is the rapid increase in the number of illnesses, which is due to the fact that the allergen burden of our society is very high.
Pollen allergies and use of chemical products in households and furniture have potential to provoke symptoms. Processed food also contain a lot of additives, and in general, there are many suspicious components in our environment.
Nowadays we have many options for clarifying the triggers for an allergic reaction with modern allergy diagnostics. We put together a medical history, conduct laboratory- and skin tests.
Our goal is to treat the severe cases with so-called desensitizing, where the cause or primary response is wiped out, or is attempted to wipe out.

What services are there in the field of pediatrics?
General pediatrics is a very broad field that can be described as the internal medicine for the little ones. The diagnostic activity is accordingly very diverse and requires good expertise. We are trying to make optimum use of the possibilities, and to assemble an accurate diagnostic course that provides diagnostics within one or two days to enable fast and successful treatments.
At ages from zero to eighteen or twenty, there are many questions that arise during this time, starting from vaccinations, infections, adolescence, puberty, to psychological problems after puberty or during puberty.
It is possible blood sample at the doctor’s office, take a blood sample, transport blood to the central laboratory, and we’ll get virtually all laboratory findings within twenty-four hours.

What is the location of your ordination/office? What about parking?
The location of our office at Vienna Private Hospital (Wiener Privatklinik www.wpk.at) is very central with proximity to the Vienna General Hospital (Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien).

There are two parking garages nearby:
• Zimmermannplatz | Best in Parking, 1090 Wien
• Pelikangasse 15, 1090 Wien (please talk to the guard)
Public transport allows for great options to come here as well.
